Why PolicyPantry

My name is Thomas Silvera, MSHS-PH. I am a public health advocate, author, public speaker, Doctor of Health Sciences candidate, and Co-Founder of the Elijah Alavi Foundation. After losing my son Elijah to a severe allergic reaction, I dedicated my life to helping create safer systems for children and families.

Through years of working alongside families, advocates, legislators, healthcare professionals, and organizations, I have collaborated in advocacy efforts that helped advance and pass important laws across the country.

During that work, I was constantly searching from one website to another for accurate and updated laws. It was time consuming and often difficult to know which information was current. That experience inspired me to create PolicyPantry.

PolicyPantry is my independent solo project created outside of the organization. I built it for you, for families, advocates, organizations, and communities who need one accessible place to find and better understand laws related to allergies, anaphylaxis, asthma, respiratory health, and emergency preparedness.

The platform is still growing, and I remain committed to improving its accuracy and keeping the information updated. Community feedback is essential to identifying missing laws, reporting outdated information, and making PolicyPantry stronger for everyone.
